Job Opportunities

The Student Job Search Centre (SJSC) at AIS provides a supportive environment for students in order to contribute to successful graduate outcomes. The Centre has two staff assisting students in finding part time work, internship placements and also graduate work placements. The Industry Placement Manager has established a network of contacts within industry which enables students to access a wide range of industry links and job prospects.

A variety of services and channels of information are offered:

PREPARING AND WRITING YOUR CV (RESUME) AND COVER LETTER

Students are assisted in writing their CV, resume and cover letters in an effective New Zealand style which provides them with ample opportunities to get to the interview stage of the employment process.

ADVISING ON WHERE AND HOW TO SEARCH FOR WORK OPPORTUNITIES

The Student Job Search Centre advises students and provides information regarding paid employment, internship programmes, and volunteer work. They help contact potential employers and arrange interviews as they have a network of contacts within business, industry and the community where they promote AIS students and graduates for employment in part-time or full-time work and internships.

INTERVIEW PREPARATION AND TECHNIQUES

The staffs at SJSC not only assists the students in guiding them in their research on a prospective employer but they also prepare them for a successful interview in order to increase their chances of securing an employment or internship position. They identify the specific skills of the students that matches the job description and arranges group workshops and one-on-one consultations.

COORDINATION OF INTERNSHIP

For students and graduates requiring New Zealand work experience, the Centre helps them in coordinating internships in their respective field of study which enables them to gain real world experience. The Centre also have a working relationship with Intern NZ to arrange internships around New Zealand. Options include: MBA/PGDBA internship module Graduate placement programme IT internships, giving students from IT programmes experience within networking or software Graduate Diploma in Hospitality Management (GDHM) internships Ad hoc internships offered by employers to AIS students and graduates.

EMPLOYER AND INTERNSHIP PROVIDER DATABASE

The Student Job Search Centre have a database of employers who are interested in AIS students and graduates for internships and employment opportunities. They use this database to foster relationships by keeping in contact with employers for any future opportunities for our students and graduates opting to pursue their studies through IIMS-AIS cross credit pathway.
